The Great Thala Saamaan
When it comes to our wedding, we want everything to be just perfect! Venue - check, Decoration - check, catering - check, mehendi & makeup - check, saris & jewellery - check, accessories - ?
In the South Indian wedding, the thala saamaan or the headgear is an important accessory to complete the wedding look.
A few years ago, the traditional gold with kemp stones and pearls where a rage. A couple of years ago, there was a shift towards antique gold with kemp stones. Now with options of oxidised silver kemp neckpieces and earrings, Guttapusalus; what does the modern day bride do? To wear the whole set or not? To wear just the tikka or along with the chandran and the suryan? We suggest try the entire headgear out and then decide if it suits you, your personality and most importantly your beautiful Kanjivaram sari!
A frequently asked question to us is, 'What do you feel goes with our sari?'. We would recommend the brides to try something new, break away from the mould and be different; create a statement!
Vida recommends stores like - Because Its Silver, Rajatamaya, Ms. Pink Panther and of course Sukra!
P.S. We are available for personal shopping sessions.
Until the next blog,
